Blog Roulette
03.31.05 - 11:57 pm (CT)
Me oh my… what to say about what I do that the masses would find interesting, or maybe I should skip Web Dev all together, but then I've been doing a lot of that lately… okay, for quite some time, but we aren't really keeping track now, are we? Okay, so we are, but no biggie, right? Hey, I know, let's play a little Blog Roulette — I'll just spin my mind and see what inspirational tidbit I come up with… okay, I'm spinning, I'm getting inspired, I've almost got it, it's within my mind's grasp, yes, that's it, let's go back to March 11th to… wish me a belated 52nd birthday!

Personal Computer Engineer
03.29.05 - 9:18 pm (CT)
Some people have Personal Trainers, some have Personal Chefs… I have a Personal Computer Engineer! He wasn't very easy to come by — it was a long, arduous labor of sorts, which led to years of training him for the task, and the financial outlay was tremendous, but it has paid off over and over again! It's taken 27 years to get him to this point, but… my oldest son, Rob, was more than worth the effort!

Happy Birthday to Rob!

With love to my computer-engineer-of-a-son, from this very proud Mom!!!

Google Local… a cheap (actually FREE) way to get on the Web
03.23.05 - 9:12 pm (CT)
The Web proves that not all business is local, but a heck of a lot of it is, which is where Google Local comes in. Google is now offering a FREE local business directory where anyone, anywhere, at anytime can "find local businesses and services on the web". This is great for the consumer who just wants to find out that you're there and where there is, which, of course, is great for business.

As a business owner, all you need to do to get listed is signup at the Google Local Business Center and then "you can create and display a business listing for free". It not only doesn't "cost you a thing", but "you have full control over your listing", so that "qualified prospects" looking "for the products and services you offer" can find you easily, with up-to-date (by you) information about your business. For those of you (and you know who you are) who don't yet have a website, well this gives you a FREE way to get on the Web, and if you already have a website, then you get a quality, relevant link to it with no cash outlay and very little effort.

It only took a few minutes for me to fill out the information for Pageminders, which is my little Web design business that my passing thoughts here at MindBlog are supposed to be referencing (okay, so lately there hasn't been much Web talk here… picky, picky, picky). Anyway, with the little bit of time and no money involved, a business owner would have to be nuts not to take advantage of the brand spanking new Google Local Business Directory.

My FREE Google Local listing is going to be up and running in just a few weeks and should look something like this:

Pageminders.com listing in the Google Local Business Directory

So, if you'd like your business to be listed at Google Local, then you need to toddle on down to the Google Local Business Center… go on… it's free, so what have you got to lose… just business.

Oh well, or going with the flow… of life
03.14.05 - 7:42 am (CT)
We all have times in our lives where there isn't much, if anything, we could or should do about whatever has happened, is happening, or is about to happen. Sometimes we just have to let people make their own mistakes, live with the consequences of their actions, and hope they learn from those mistakes. Sometimes in life we need to realize that we are trying to swim upstream against some of life's heavy currents and all would be better off if we would just say, "Oh well" and go with the flow, as it were.

I've had a lot of "Oh well" times lately… oh well.

(Belated) felicitations to myself!
03.11.05 - 10:04 am (CT)
A great big MindBlog…

A GREAT BIG MINDBLOG… Happy Birthday to ME!!!

Celebrations of one sort or another
03.04.05 - 8:16 am (CT)
Well, tonight starts the annual celebration of Manhattan's Irish heritage — Irish Fest! Actually those of Irish and German heritage founded the town, but this weekend everyone in town is "Irish", so if you're in the area, stop on by for a little Guinness, rugby, step dancing, and don't forget the parade! I'll be working at the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce booth in the Entertainment Tent, so if you come to our party, stop by the booth, introduce yourself, and do mention MindBlog, which will get you… basically nothing, but a "Glad you came!"

And last, but not least, today we celebrate the birth of a great… person, my sister, Peg! Peg and I are a lot alike, while at the same time different, which is also something to celebrate… along with her birthday, which gets her a great big MindBlog…

Words and Actions
03.01.05 - 6:35 pm (CT)
Words have meaning and actions have consequences… just a passing thought to mull over and when you're done mulling, try to have a nice day.
